Cheapest/future proof zigbee for RPi

Hello guys…
I’m finally going deep in my home automation…
For now I’am with hue bridge, hdmi cec, appDaemon, router with lede for presence detection and google home.

After seeing some xiaomi smart switches and sensor I’am thinking of adding/replacing the philips ones.

So I’am going to wander how can I add zigbbe support for my RPi; the xiaomi bridge is very cheap and probally I would buy only xiaomi things, but I want to have something versatile…

Veraplus, wink are overpriced ( IMO) , smartthing v3 too ( in Italy I have to buy outside and prices are high).

So I started to look on usb sticks cc2531 and xbee s2c ( or even 3 ) or elelabs, zigbee2mtqq…
So I wonder… Zigbee Home Automation platform works with xiaomi?

Is a bridge like wink really futureproof? Is the bridge from xiaomi (22€) the better choice ( no hassle )?
What are you suggestions on sticks or board/module/shield ?

Thank you.

probably this:

I second this recommendation. I am using philips hue bulbs and heaps of xiaomi zigbee devices and it works really nicely (so well I sold my hue and xiaomi hubs)

I looked better, seems I can flash the board with arduino too, it’s a win then!
thanks for your input!

Which board are you talking about? OP mentioned a few.

A couple thoughts on this …

First, these days, nothing is future proof.

Second, future proof is never ‘cheapest’.

Just saying.
