Check if rfxcom entities are still alive

Hello,

does anybody know if one can ping or check for availability of an rfxcom entity? I’m relying on my Oregon Scientific wind sensor to monitor the wind speed but through the years I’ve come to experience some unreliabilities of this protocol/products.

You might be able to ping the rfxcom device, but probably not the devices connected to that devices over RF.
You might have to device your own detection, like for how long have updates been missing or are the updates not changing value, when they should.

I like your idea but I’m not sure how to implement. I will try to use the upcoming holidays to think how to approach this. Let’s see if somebody else may have additional thoughts on your suggestion.
