I have numerous automation that use Chime_TTS to make various announcements over the SONOS speakers. All work very reliably.
So, I thought I would try to expand some of these to our LG smart TV (as the SONOS speakers are not in the same room and sometimes difficult to hear over the TV background). I have the LG integration installed, and added a conditional option to the automation that if the TV is ‘on’, then also try to make a separate announcement over that as well.
When the automation is triggered, Chime_TTS obviously tries to make an announcement, but none is heard. (However, it does pause the TV’s current source, adjusts the volume level as approrpiate, pauses while an announcement should be made, resets the volume and starts the TV source playing again.) So, it does everything correctly, except actually play the chime and audio file.
Has anyone tinkered with Chime_TTS and the LG TV integration. I’d be curious if anyone has it working correctly?
Update:
- Checked the debug logs. Everything looks normal. No error messages.
- Also, I can send notifications to the TV and they appear as banners on the screen, so integration seems to be working OK
- Cannot get any of the HA media players to send anything to the TV, so I’m wondering if this is even practical
