I have several Chromecast Audio (CCA) devices integrated into my Home Assistant instance (latest HAOS on bare metal NUC) that I use to play music from my Plex server.
I noticed a few months ago that I can no longer skip tracks. The control no longer appears on the media player, and when I go to Developer Tools and call the media_player.media_next_track service I am unable to select any of the CCAs as a target entity or device.
I searched and found Media_next_track not working for chromecast anymore which implies there was a similar problem a few years back that was fixed in 2021.1.3.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is this due to a change from Google, or a bug in the integration, or…?

I’m having the issue as well. I was setting up an IKEA media button, and can only do “Media Player: Next” on my Plex video players, not on my Chromecast devices.
It seems Google is slowly killing Chromecast Audio with the death by 1000 cuts.
I’m considering replacing all my CCAs with Wiim devices, but only when / if they add the rumored PlexAmp support they’ve hinted at in their user forum.

I’ve found a hacky workaround to this.
I mainly listen to 5 or so different playlists and use an input helper along with an automation for my desk zigbee button, to play the current playlist in the helper (short click), or to cycle to the next play list (double click).
Since I shuffle the songs in the playlist during playback, I programmed long press on my zugbee button to turn off the CCA, then turn it back on and start the same playlist again. Between the long press and turning the CCA off/on, and starting again, it takes a few seconds, but it works.
