I’ve got a Chromecast with GoogleTV and I’ve enabled “USB debugging” which also enables network debugging via WIFI, which is great. Can anyone confirm that network debugging (via wired connection) will still work if I get the optional USB-LAN dongle to get a wired connection?
The reason I ask is because I also have a Xiaomi Mi Box3 which also offers debugging over USB (which does not enable network debugging though …) but as soon as I enable USB debugging, the attached USB LAN adapter I have hooked up to the Mi Box stops working and the box reverts to WIFI. Would hate that to be the case with the Chromecast w/GTV, since I need network ADB debugging and preferably also a wired LAN connection.
I have a USB-C hub connected to a Chromecast with GoogleTV for power and ethernet (and usb-flash drive), and have ADB debugging working over the ethernet connection (wifi intentionally disabled). I used a generic usb-c hub from Amazon, I think it was this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H2ZS1B5
Thanks for the answer, that’s great to know. I also didn’t realize that most generic USB/LAN adapters would work, I thought you needed to use the official one.
No problem. I picked up the CCwGTV very early on and saw an article about it (this one, I think: Why a USB-C hub is the best accessory for your Chromecast with Google TV | Android Central). I already had a hub I travel with for a MacBook, so I figured no harm in trying :-). It adds a lot of versatility – I keep a logitech unifying receiver plugged in and have a not-huge combo keyboard/trackpad on a shelf near the couch I use occasionally. I also have a flash drive mounted for additional storage (not strictly necessary for me right now, cheap and wanted to future proof things).
