Hello all,
Sorry for the maybe dumb question but a huge doubt came to me.
I recently bought a smart power strip that reports consumption and I installed in upstream of my living room TV, Soundbar, console etc…
1 device (Homepod mini) that is installed downstream to this power strip already reported its own consumption via powercalc integration so I set this device to have the power strip as upstream.
Now I see all the consumption from the power strip as “Power strip (untracked)” and the Homepod is still on its own.
Is that correct? Is it because HA does not know what is downstream to the power strip other than the Homepod and so it calls it “untracked”?
Also, while checking the doc for upstream devices and hierarchies (Integrating individual device energy usage - Home Assistant) and noticed that the example says: “imagine having a breaker monitoring the total energy consumption of a circuit, but also separately tracking individual devices connected to that circuit.”
I do have a meter connected to my main line but on the energy dashboard configuration that meter is configured under “grid consumption” and the individual devices do not have it as upstream.
Is that correct? The results data seems to be consistent with my bills so I assume it is, but the documentation confused me.
Thanks a lot,
Gianlu
