Looking for recommendations on a privately controlled clear/crystal bulb to go in my outdoor fixtures. I’ve been using Shelly Vintage (awesome until they die @ 18-24 months), yet they’re no longer sold.
Wifi or Zigbee preferred. Matter bulbs are out - they require big-tech accounts to work with Home Assistant. Wire-in switches are not practical in this application.
I found Sengled vintage bulbs but I am concerned about their lack of a Zigbee repeater. Phillips makes a Hue bulb that may qualify but they’re expensive (>$30USD ea). I paid less than $10 each for the Shelly’s, though I’m willing to pay more for better longevity.
Hi, you could consider this alternative approach: use regular, that is non-smart, bulbs and control them from the switch by putting a in-wall smart switch.
That way you get more choice regarding the bulbs themselves.
Nice suggestion, I’ve considered something like the one below, it kind of fits in with my toggle switches. I may purchase one to try out. For now I’ve punted and purchased old stock Shellies on ebay.
