I think it would be better to have a slider instead of the up/down buttons for temperature control. Or at least when the component has upper and lower values set.
That was the case in earlier versions of HA.
Any reason why those buttons are better or more user friendly? If you have devices that have 0.5 or 0.1 steps you need to press that button maaany times. Maybe a combination of both would be better?
You always could use an input_number component and an automation to call the set_temperature service of the climate device when the input_number state changes.
I dunno… When I change the temperature in my house I rarely move it more than a few degrees, if ever. Automations handle most of the changing anyway.
For me, up/down buttons similar to the physical thermostat work well.
Wouldn’t Custom UI work to get you a slider?
Can people really tell the difference between 18°C and 19°C ???
If you think that it TOO big a step then set your input number to have step of 0.5
With normal TRV’s their control is at best +/- 3°C though I hear that most modern smart valves are +/- 1°C
With hass.io 0.59.2 you get the required number box, but whether you want it or not you get the slider too (I don’t want it)
Just my $0.02
