Climate History Card: measured temperatures, stepped setpoints and HVAC activity on one timeline

I’ve published Climate History Card, a Home Assistant dashboard card for comparing what the temperature actually did with the setpoint and equipment activity.

Measured temperature is drawn as a continuous line; setpoints are drawn as steps. You can plot multiple zones, add outside temperature and a secondary series such as humidity, and shade the periods when equipment was active.

Preview using synthetic data

It can follow Home Assistant’s energy date selector for a chosen calendar day, or show a rolling interval. Optional command records can be matched to setpoint changes. Without a matching record, a change stays unattributed; the card doesn’t guess who changed the thermostat.

Install: Open in HACS, or add https://github.com/shogun301/climate-history-card as a Dashboard custom repository. Install the card and refresh your browser. Default-catalog inclusion is pending; custom-repository installation is available now.

A minimal example, using fictional entity IDs:

type: custom:climate-history-card
title: Climate history
zones:
  - name: Office
    temperature: sensor.office_temperature
    setpoint: sensor.office_setpoint
    active: binary_sensor.office_hvac_active

Replace those entities with your own. The configured temperature unit controls labels, not value conversion, so your temperature sources need consistent units.

Source, configuration reference and releases. Apache 2.0 licensed. Feedback on configuration and readability with different thermostat setups would be useful.

This looks really good and it kind of feeds into my “HVAC Junkie” personality ever since I’ve upgraded my HVAC systems.

But I tried your card and I’m getting a “configuration error”. Not really sure why.

the files exist in my “community” folder and I’ve added the resource to my resources file.
