The Home Assistant mobile application already collects information from many sensors on the device.
Would it be possible to add the ambient light sensor to this list? As far as I know, both Android and iOS devices make it possible for developers to read this information.
Some use-cases:
- use an old smartphone as an ambient light sensor instead of buying a dedicated one
- turn on/off/dim smart lights when the user is at home based on light levels
- adjust the brightness of screens that don’t have their own sensors, for example, desktop computers
