I decided to replace our wireless thermostat on our boiler with something a little more ‘home grown’ as i was fed up changing the batteries once every two weeks.
Hope someone gets inspired by this.
Boiler controlled by a single relay connected to a nodeMCU running Tasmota. The boiler mains wiring is pretty straightforward so making my own unit to hold everything wasn’t complicated at all.
The boiler runs on 230v mains power with a simple switch circuit to turn heating on or off. (connected to the relay).
Power is supplied to the nodeMCU by breaking open an old usb charger and connecting it to the boiler mains wiring. Then a short usb cable to power the nodeMCU.
Scripts, Helpers and Automations take care of the rest.
