ConBee2 loosing connection to Zigbee devices after upgrading to an SSD

Hi,

recently my SD card broke so i switched to an SSD on my Pi4.
I read that Zigbee-sticks like the ConBee2 have problems with USB3, so i got an extension cable.

Right now the stick is about 40cm away from the Pi, but right next to it is my router.

Usually the Aqara Door/Window sensors are connecting to it, but the Aqara Multisensors have problems. Most of the time they connect to it after a few minutes.

The ConBee2 stick is on the newest firmware and i set the host to core-deconz in the core.config_entries (since i read that it sometimes has problems with it because of an changing ip).

it would be kinda impossible for me to get the Stick further away from the Pi and the router because of my setup…maybe putting it to another direction, but then it would be quite close to a HUE bridge and a Somfy Connexoon-box and directly next to a big powerstrip.

is the problem here really because it´s too close to the Pi/router?

It might be worthwhile to check the Pi’s power supply. An SSD might use more power than an SD card and the increased load might affect the ConBee stick.

i´m using the official Raspberry Powersupply

Use a powered USB hub.

The combination of the SSD and the ConBee is more power than the Pi can provide (and possibly the SSD is all by itself).

any recommendations?

so i basicly plug the hub in so it gets power, plug the Pi into power and connect the SSD to it, but put the ConBee into the hub?

Buy whatever you can get that gets decent reviews :man_shrugging:

Plug the Pi and the hub into power. Plug the hub into the Pi, plug the SSD and the extension cable for the ConBee into the hub.

will give it a try, thanks!

THISone should work i guess?

plugging in a usb-cable that also plugs into the pi, add the SSD and the conbee stick with the extrnsion-cable?

Yes, and yes
