CONFIG/network/ empty after failed installed

We are installing Home Assistant from an SD we created via Mac OS Big Sur. We created CONFIG/network/ in the boot partition of the SD using the terminal and added the my-network file.
The install failed with kernel time synchronized timeout (I think - it failed there on some previous occasions) and took me to the HA Command Interface (ha > ).

Is there any log produced? Can I exit the HA CLI to investigate the files?

Afterwards when I checked the CONFIG/network/ folder it was empty.

Does the install delete the my-network file anytime in the process?
