I have Home Assistant running on Ubuntu in a virtual. Preparing to get an NVidia Shield in the mail and was curious if there is anywhere that completely documents how I would get this one setup? I will be doing a couple things with it. Managing it from my Harmony Remote, and also integrating it into my HA remote and potential automations. Looks like the AndroidTV component is the right way to go but looks like I would need to setup a separate docker container and the like. Never did that specifically before outside of HA so looking for some kind of walkthru.
How did you get on with this? I am try to do the same…
What’s your issue?
I have the Shield configured in HA via Android ADB
No major issue just interested to see how they got on… I have it working using the AndroidTV integration but am interested to see how people are presenting it in the UI… Full remote controller or just the generic media widget?
I have the shield showing in the media_player but don’t use it, just on a page I don’t use anymore in HA. Don’t use the Shield much at all thru HA to be honest. I created a full remote in HA with the Harmony integration and use that when the harmony remote isn’t near me. Pretty cool but not sure the integration I’ve done is useful. Definitely the family ops not to use that piece.
I was thinking of enabling HA, the TV and Shield with Alexa to control things by voice but have been hesitant due to the issues with having the TV making noise and trying to get Alexa to understand what I’m saying over the speakers playing.
