Connect Mac finder to Hassio remotely

Feeling utterly stupid today, my apologies beforehand…

I completely forgot how to connect my Mac Finder and load files in my editor, connecting remotely to my Hassio instance. That is in abroad, away from my home network.

My Hassio instance on duckdns.org, know all ip addresses , but simply forgot how to. I can remotely access my router both through ssh and ddns.

the smb://remote.ip wont work and remote:8123 errors out immediately. Is that because im locally attached , or because the syntax is wrong…

normally I connect to smb://hassio.local entering only my password.

Hope you can help,
Marius

Are you using the samba share addon? make sure it is installed and running correctly (check logs) then in finder look under shared on the left hand column. If it doesn’t show up press shift command K while in finder to get to the network page.

If the samba addon is working and you can’t find it there I’m afraid I don’t know what else to do

yes , and locally this works just as you describe.

I am looking for the same behavior when away from home, and needing to edit my config files.

I can do anything remotely, but forgot how to show the files in Mac Finder and open the files in my editor…

I’m not sure but i guess you could install the configurator addon and forward the port used by configurator

i have indeed, maybe that will work, …

Its just that i can see my Synology for example in mac finder when away, i was hoping to do the same with my Hassio install

I’m afraid I don’t know then

happy to report i am able to login and view and edit all files with sftp though Cyberduck!
Cant find the files in finder yet, but this works for the time being.

what’s more, i can even see and open all other files on the card. Possibly rather dangerous of course, since I am seeing this for the first time and havent a clue…
