Connecting devices from a different location?

Is there a way to have a network tunnel between a home that has the HA server on it’s network and a home that only has a router?

I recently moved from home and took some my devices. Most of them were integrated in HA (like tv, smart box, lightbulbs, smart sockets etc.) and i’d like to connect them again. Is it possible without using cloud services and without buying a different HA hardvare (like by using a vpn or some sort)?

Yes, that’s what a VPN is.

Whether the specific integration will work however depends on how you connect those devices. If you can manually specify the IP then you should be ok. Otherwise you won’t be able to.

You also have to consider the latency introduced. Will the specific devices you have in mind work… Or work well when connected that way.

Yes you can. I doubt it’s going to be a fun experience…

So far I’ve managed to have a pptp connection between the 2 routers. I don’t know how to expose devices to be discoverable or accessible by HA or how to have the HA local address to be accessible remotely. The server is running on a TP-link ax1500 and i’ve connected a Xiaomi ax3200 to it. The Xiaomi router got a 10.0.0.11 address and the server has an address pool for up to of 10 clients (10.0.0.11-10.0.0.20). If somebody could steer me to the right way I think it’s doable.
