Connecting hass to homekit

i’ve connected my ecobee to home assistant. i also paired ecobee with homekit. both of these appear to work fine, all ecobee-born accessories show in both home app on apple devices as well as in home assistant.

and yet home assistant configurator is still asking for homekit code:

i’m new to home assistant, is there something obvious i might be missing?

I think you have to unpair with Home app and pair to Home Assistant, and then add the HomeKit controller to “push” the HA entities back to the Home app, but I can’t get any of it to work, so what do I really know?
