Consumer Reports collecting data on impacts of software obsolecence

CR has a pretty good advocacy mission, and right now they’re looking for stories from (US only, sorry) consumers who have been impacted by software obsolescence. Devices that lost functionality due to updates, vendor abandonment, cloud shutdowns, whatever. You can submit as many as you want.

If you’ve been hit by a vendor breaking an integration, or just shutting down a service, contribute to the discussion:

Did you have a Chamberlin/Liftmaster garage door opener?
Mazda car?
Enphase system that had it’s fully-local access disabled?
Can’t get a dev account for an Ecobee thermostat?
Or any other device bricked or de-featured due to software updates or vendor cloud changes?

There’s a lot of complaints about adobe subs, and old laptops not supporting the latest MacOS or Windows, but it appears the intended focus is on IoT devices.
