Is is possible to pause/play a media player using home assistant?

I have a volumio integrated with home assistant and home assistant integrated with Alexa via the cloud component. The device show up in the alexa app as office volumio. The only odd part is the device is discovered as a tv but I think all of my home assistant media player are.

I am trying to have some control over the volumio media player but I can’t figure it out. If I ask Alexa to pause office volumio she says I don’t know that one.

If I ask her “Ask home assistant to pause office volumio” it replies "I’m not sure about that one.

Can you control the media play from the front end in HA?

If so, you can try making a template switch, like switch.mute which Alexa could probably understand better. I do this for turning the TV on and off.

This video doesn’t help with the original question which is how volumio can be controlled VIA alexa integration in HA.

I am in the same situation. I have 3 volumio devices in my home and I would like to be able to tell Alexa to play a playlist as well as play/pause. I have created a automation that will start a playlist but it is not worth it to make an automation for everything for every playlist.

Help in this is very much appreciated.
