Control RGB lights using Apple TV or HDMI signal

Hello Folks,

I wish I could control the RGB lights using Apple TV or generic HDMI signal (like Ambilight TV).

There is a ready solution “Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box” but seems to be not very stable and the price is insane: €229.99

Any ideas?

Thanks

There were some alternative projects but I think most of them have been discontinued. DreamScreen discontinued their products and Lightberry HD is out of stock. I assume the only thing left is some DIY.

I had a play with this. It worked but I found it more distracting than enhancing so I stopped using it:

I used something for Kodi in the past as well, however OP is talking about an Apple TV (can you install Kodi there) or a generic HDMI output, that’s why I didn’t suggest this.

Completely skipped over the Apple TV bit. Sorry. Apparently it can be installed, but with annoying caveats:

Thank you all. And what about a generic passthrough HDMI device (like the Hue Play HDMI Sync Box)?
