Controlling Charging of GivEnergy Battery

I have a GivEnergy battery and have just moved to the Octopus Agile electricity tariff in the UK.

What I would like to do is, when the half hourly rates are published for the next day is to set the charging to switch on when it falls below a certain value and switch off when it goes above it.

I know that GivEnergy/Octopus has its own automation but, unless I am using it incorrectly, it will only choose one time band to charge over the 24 hours which isn’t enough control for me.

Can Home Assistant talk to GivEnergy and Octopus and, if so, is what I would like a possibility.

I apologise if this isn’t the correct forum to ask this question.

David

Yes, there are custom components for Octopus and Givenergy. Have a search on here.
Also check out the Givenergy forum, there are some HA automations that do what you want

Hi David12. Did you ever find anything of use to do this? I too am looking for tomething a little more intuitive to set a base rate for charge. Say it drops <5p over 5 times in the day it will charge.

Even better will be if there is solar focast that will estimate the charge to cover the battery then change the charge value from 100% to 40% say.

Hi @Holdestmade = I had have a look around and I was not able to find anything, can you please post the links you found please. as this something I am looking at doing myself but I can’t find any referance to help me with.
