Convert NodeRed Switch to Dimmer

Hi there - I am quite a noob trying to master the basics needed to get started migrating from Fibaro HC2.

My terrace shades are managed via a rs232 rf transceiver (bought the stock module from teleco after failing to crack the rolling code).

Anyway I can control everything fine inside of NodeRed - so far, so good.

Now I want to create a light entity in HA to control the dimmable leds embedded into the terrace roof.

I managed to control the on off state using the nodered switch entity, I managed to create a helper to have a slider for the brightness.

But I failed to combine both so they operate as a virtual dimmer in order to use a light card for dashboards (rather than having two cards as I have it now).

Imho this should be easy, but I seem to miss something to get the last mile - can you please give me a hint?

Thanks
Michael

Thank you!

@platcraft sorry to bring up an old thread, but curious to hear how you got on?

I was looking into getting the RS232 module, but was under the impression it was one-way only, and would not report the current state of. louvres/lights if they were set elsewhere? This would make it difficult to use both HA and the remote.
