in my apartment building there is a video intercom and downstairs door lock interface, which i would like to create smart. Cant replace the downstairs stuff obviously, but can hack or replace the interface in my apartment.
The device is Laskomex MVC-8251 Monitor and looks nice, i would like to keep the existing buttons and video feed if possible.
Behind it looks like this, so could add some wires and a raspberry / ESP8266. Would be happy to just tap into the unlock button so dont have to walk 2 sets of stairs to open the door, but getting the video feed would even be greater.
Got a similar intercom (at least from what I translated) and I am in a similar situation where I can change my unit but can’t change downstair’s stuff.
I did find this device which might be possible to get integrated in HA however did not find evidence that it’s possible or if it has any local api
There are some different models but they all seem to be pretty much the same device that gets a 4 wire intercom and converts to an IP one and TUYA compatible
Do you think this will work as well since it’s 4 wIre?
would like to keep the screen instead of the ugly gray box. Do i understand correctly that it goes on the wall instead of the current one? or does it sit somewhere hidden and somehow connects with the intercom?
Seems like those monitors would also work (hadn’t found these before)
The box I had linked can be placed hidden somewhere in the middle of the connection but might be annoying to find a spot anyway. Monitor might be more comfortable to simply replace
I eventually did buy the wi-fi box however video quality is a bit terrible and I can’t hear audio from the tuya app itself either so it wasn’t a good solution for me.
I did try to add it to home assistant however had an issue streaming the video there as well, there’s an open ticket on github regarding the issue
I purchased the wifi box (without a display) but never got it to work even with the Tuya app… a short in the electricity somewhere caused the whole house to lose their intercoms for a while, so i left it at that.
Also in the process of converting my Tuya stuff to ESPHome (since Tuya stopped support for my curtain motor…), not sure if this has an ESP chip and can be flashed to local as well.
