It would be useful to me if there were an option to download the available HA update and then schedule a time to perform the update (or manually click the “Install Update” button later, myself). …in the same way iOS and iTunes allow for this.
I’ve also wanted this, and end up using the terminal to manually download updates first. There’s a few reasons:
- For installations on slow internet connections, it can take a while to download an update.
- Likewise, for Raspberry Pi based installations it can take a few minutes just for the container images to extract.
- I’d like to be able to control the interruption to Home Assistant as best as I can. If something causes the update to be slower to download than normal, then Home Assistant ends up restarting at inopportune times.
A download button would certainly fix this. Another method would be to automatically download (but not install) updates as they become available.
