Love love love the latest UI updates; everything is so well thought out with strong conceptual foundation and good information architecture. My compliments to the team!
One thing that I’ve noticed is new that has been disproportionately impacting my recent use is the new menu animations.
On the one hand, I enjoy the smoothness and improved feel they offer.
But on the other hand, the hand I find is more impactful to my overall experience, they have the effect of slightly slowing each interaction, as I wait for the menu to “settle.” It’s nice the first time, but when doing many interactions, like adding Areas to Automations, it really hinders the interaction.
It may seem small, but it changes the feel of HA toward feeling slow from traditionally feeling very quick and responsive.
An animation is still good, I would suggest a rapid timing and quick-settling easing. About three times faster seems appropriate. However, in my experience, avoiding an animation for interactions like this is also a very good option and should be considered.
Thanks for reading and considering!
