Cover position logic

Hey guys,

i was wondering what logic you all are using to determine your desired cover position?

i am currently using sun azimuth combined with uv index and/or weather for half close. my Windows are all south-east so the azimuth is a good indicator for when the sun is burning right into my rooms :smiley:

sun above/below horizon for full open/close

i am not 100% happy with that approach because my cover often goes to half close when it doesnt feel right in that moment. i cant tell yet whats wrong in that situation so i was wondering what you all use for the “perfect position” between full open and close?

I do mine with outdoor illuminance sensors. It prevents the cloudy day syndrome where the house isn’t lit correctly. You can put one on each side of your house to determine cover position on each side and then average them for other lighting automations.
