I’ve recently had a day / night blind put in. This basically has 3 states; full open, fully closed and day (where the blind is closed about 95% but you can still see through it). It’s got a louvolite motor to control it and with Bert’s help I was able to get this working with the rfxcom up to a point. So I’ve created a cover template and at the moment the open and close works but I want a 3rd state. Basically I just want to be able to click the up and down buttons multiple times no matter the current state.
Is that possible? As at the moment, if it says the state is open, the up button doesn’t do anything.
The reason for this is I want to control with tileboard but also still be able to use the remote.
Mine doesn’t seem to work the same way. It’s hold either UP or DOWN for a set amount to go to fully open or closed.
What I ended up doing is created a further set of the blinds as covers, and then setting these to be closed on HA restart. I have to now have two up and down buttons for each but it was the easier option when it comes to explaining to the family how it works.
I’ve also added them to HABridge so we can use amazon to control them, and that’s even easier as it’s completely indepedent of the HA cover entities and doesn’t affect the state.
Covers have the possibility of a percentage control. If the percentage is not 0% or 100%, both the up and down controls remain active. For my Motion Blinds, fully closed is 0%, slightly open is 2%, and fully open is 100%.
