I hope I’m in the right place
I have a lot of automation and it is getting confusing.
Is there a way to group the automations?
For example, a group in which I have all the automations for my lights (switch lights on and off), a group for my heating and a air conditioning automations and more…
That would be helpful to keep an overview.
Thanks in advance
I don’t think you can group them, but you can filter them based on area if you defined your areas in home and put your automations in those areas ie. living room.
Autmations lacks one simple feature. If you are setting your automation from a devices entity and that device is in some area ie. kitchen, automation will not be automatically placed in kitchen area. Have to add it myself.
Well it is how it is. All automations are stored in a single file. For this thing you will probably need separated files that will store automations for various groups.
Justin,
This might help you if you haven’t already discovered this. I came upon this thread when I was trying to do the same thing.
In the Automation’s screen you can ‘Group by Category’, select ‘Filters’ and go to the ‘Categories’ section and then ’ + Add category’
Once you have set up the categories then you can ‘Assign Category’ to each automation using the 3 dots selections.
This will place them into groups that can be expanded or hidden.
