Dashboards are problematic when used in browsers, especially Chrome (my favorite).
No matter if we set a default custom dashboard, the “overview” dashboard always comes back as the default.
I don’t plan on using it, but I don’t want to take control of it either. I want to use my custom dashboards.
A viable solution to this problem would be to be able to set the “overview” dashboard to “hidden”. That way it would never open, regardless of the browser used.
Any reason you don’t want to take control? I just made my overview dashboard into my main/default dashboard, which is helpful for people that don’t use HA much; every time they open HA it’s already on the view they’ll likely want anyway.
According to what HA says, changing the default dashboard from Overview to something else will hide it. It works for me. If for some reason it doesn’t work for you then you can probably try going to your user settings and under that click on “edit” next to Change the order and hide items from the sidebar
setting. Then try removing it from the sidebar.
I discovered that all you have to do is “hold” the “Home Assistant” title in the side menu bar for a few seconds. When you let go, it goes into editing mode and you can hide the toolbar you want and even change their order.
Yes, that’s a shortcut method for doing what I described above.
I had to clear my browser history. Then, when I logged into HA, the menus were the same as before. I had to redo the configurations.
What I think is needed is a definitive option that does not depend on the browser cache. Once configured, it will always be loaded. An option that would be stored in the local configuration file.
