Creating backup keeps spinning

Using the internal backup tool, I get errors that they didn’t complete but they still show up in the backups. While creating backup, it keeps spinning and doesn’t finish

No solution. I’ve disabled backups in HA and just using proxmox backups.

I’m afraid there is something fundamentally wrong with my installation and need to start fresh. Hope not though.

I have the same problem on two seperate HA installs. Manual backups complete, but it seems Supervisor never informs HA. Only other clue that may be related is the following I just saw in the Supervisor log:

ERROR (MainThread) [supervisor.homeassistant.corel No Home Assistant Core response, assuming a fatal startup error

Yes I do remember seeing that error.

Have you tried restoring from the backup? Mine fails.

I haven’t tried restoring. Just assuming it finished correctly from the log and entry in the back up list. Both of my installs are VMs running HAOS. Are you using HAOS?

Yeah, HAOS. I tried a new machine and the restore process worked but getting the same issue, except now the backup was only 70MB while on the old machine, it was a GB

In the end my problem was having http.server_host set which you can’t use with an install using Supervisor (HAOS or Docker Supervised). I wanted to limit the IP the UI was running on to just a VLAN interface that gets proxied via NGINX. But then Supervisor can’t reach it via the Docker interface it assumes it’s available on. So if you’re using that setting removing it should help.

As for the backup size, I’m guessing it didn’t include some of your history/stats maybe?

Thanks, I also have server_host set so as to allow me to add devices on a serperate vlan without needing to set up an mDNS repeater as I can’t get it working with pfsense

Necroing this old thread as the issue still exists and in my case http.server_host has never been set so that is not a solution for me.

I have TBs available on the SMB NAS I am sending the files so it is not a space issue.

What seems to have worked for me is to exclude all add-ons with the exception of MariaDB. The major exclusions are the Matter server and Mosquito Broker.
