Creating Template sensor question

Off course my door sensor is ‘on’ or ‘off’ and I want to change it to ‘open’ or ‘closed’ problem is I also want to change all of my contact sensors to ‘open’ or ‘closed’ I’ve look all over the forum but cannot seem to find a way to do this…
I know that I can create the new sensor for each contact but how can I write one sensor that just covers them all?
I believe I’m not using the correct terminology or I’m sure I would have found an example by now…

Any help would be appreciated!!

Add the device class door either in the YAML definition of the sensor or using customize.

You can also use “Show As” in the UI device properties.

Thank you!! They are all correct already. Maybe the problem is I’m using Mushroom card so perhaps the issue is there.

PS do you ever sleep? LOL
