Hi there!
I just released a custom sidebar card for Home Assistant dashboards:
ha-dashboard-sidebar, a flexible and collapsible sidebar that shows useful entities like sensors, weather, people, media players, lights, and more – all in a vertical compact layout.
It’s still in beta and it’s also my first real custom card – happy to hear your thoughts or suggestions!
Features:
Fully customizable layout via YAML
Collapsible sidebar with mini-popups
Person tracking support with live map and state
Animated weather icons and sensor status
Controls for media, climate, lights, and fans
Custom tap_action with different entity more-info
Works great as a side panel on any Lovelace view
Let me know what you think, PRs and suggestions are welcome.
I’ve just installed this card and got to playing around with it. It’s interesting but I wonder…what were the specific use-cases you saw for this card? In what circumstances would you say this is most useful?
Note:
I noticed that the vertical alignment pushes the other cards over when expanded but in the horizontal layout, it simple expands underneath the other cards which essentially hides some of the card content. That may be what you meant by “**HORIZONTAL TO BE FIXED” but I couldn’t find a reference to that on your github.
