Custom component config. is it possible to map additional directories?

I am guessing this cannot be done (as I cannot find anything in the docs).

Is there a way to expose to a custom component the various HA folders in a similar way a addon can be. Other than just the config directory.

e.g.

map:
    - addons:rw
    - backup:rw

or if there is some other workaround to enable custom component to have at least read access. I assume this relates to them running in seperate docker containers.
