Can someone explain the config where to use api. Never got it working from the instructions given in github
Hi,
I have installed the addon but the sensors do not switch to ON when a song is playing…
What might be the reason for that?
Thanks and cheers,
Merc
Which integration for media player are you using?
I tested it on a few Logitech Squeezebox players.
It also does not recognize the Voice Assistant PE media player turning on…
Could you please attach some screenshots of the Developer tools > States section for the media players and lyrics sensors in question? That will help me see the state attributes and their values for debugging.
After the latest update, it is working.
Thanks
Having said that, it works, to some degree.
I don’t know why, but not all players are working.
Here you can see the state of one player (Lyrion) that is NOT recognized while others are:
The genius lyrics sensor for that one:
And here, the two of them next to each other:
@Merc big thanks for the screen grabs. I was actually wondering if playlist content type would be a problem as I recently signed up for Spotify (been on YT Music this whole time) and noticed this.
Fix coming soon (playlist media_content_type is ignored · Issue #48 · robert-alfaro/genius-lyrics · GitHub)
@Merc Can you try the latest release v0.2.10 with a playlist?
Hi ralfaro,
Same behaviour as before. Nothing happens
@Merc Could you enable debug logging on the integration and send me a snippet of your logs when you play a song and change track?
I have enabled the debugging. Where will I get the specific logs you need?
At the moment the players, even when playing, or not recognised.
@Merc excellent. Now that debugging is enabled, try using the media player and replicate the bug. Upon disabling the debug logging, HA will auto download a text file through your browser. Near the bottom you’ll find messages starting like:
2025-08-15 10:29:29.655 DEBUG (MainThread) [custom_components.genius_lyrics.sensor]
Please share those with me.
Hi, I was about to do that when I realized that suddenly all my players showed up again in the integration and the one that was playing actually showed as “on” with a little icon of the album that was playing.
I have now tested it with several songs on a long playlist and it seems to work…
Don’t ask why it did not work before. I have not restarted just now but already derictly after the upgrade…
right on
I’ll close the bug as resolved.

Hi, something is not quite right.
Just started a song as I usually do and again it does not pick up that the player is on.
Not sure where this random behaviour is coming from.
OK.and now after playing a song for about 5 minutes the player is showing up as on.
So there might be an issue with the update of the sensors?
Please reproduce and provide logs
