How does one get the video feed to stream live constantly to HA? I can see all of my Tapo cameras but they all say “Idle” and the video feed only updates when movement is detected.
Just bought my first Tapo camera, the C225.
Using HAOS on an Intel NUC with a USB Coral. Could not use either the HA Tapo integration, or the HACs Tapo Camera Control integration, it would not take accept my IP, login and password when trying to configure. The login and password were correct, changed in the Tapo app to confirm, made the Tapo online cloud password match just to be safe. Made sure the login name contained no capital letters since I read some old posts about that.
Camera works in Frigate, but few controls, no PTZ. So I had to install with ONVIF. The only entities are shown in the attachment. Is there any reason why I could install the HACs integration, but not configure it?

The integration hasn’t worked for 2 days now.
The problem is related to the cloud password, which I have not changed but which is not valid.
I tried to change password from app, in app working but from integration the password result invalid.
Can you help me?
If yo had made the effort of “skimming” through this Topic, you would have found Multiple Post , And explanations
Sorry, I have search but not found this specific post.
Thank you
It’s ok, i know not everyone subscribe to this Topic, or even “hang around” alot in the Forum
If you read nr 2, link, there should be suggestions on how you temporary, can get your cams “accessible” again
Hope you find one of them feasible for You
I have two Tapo cameras, the C200 and the C500, both if I put the SD memory in them it doesn’t work, they remain unavailable. So I use both without memory. Any solution?
My understanding is that Tapo cameras, a fact with my C520WS, only put out 2 streams. If an SD card is inserted it consumes one of those streams leaving only one available for either cloud or local streaming/recording. This suggests that you have the other stream being used by something else leaving none for this integration to use.
That is strange as I have 3 different model Tapo cameras, 4 C120s, 2 C210s and 1 C510W all with SD cards in them and all cameras send both a SD streams and a HD streams to my HA. You did setup “Camera Account” under “Advanced Setting”?
yes, it is configured
Then check this: ❗❗❗Invalid cloud password on firmware build 230921 and higher · Issue #551 · JurajNyiri/HomeAssistant-Tapo-Control · GitHub
Could be a firmware issue with your model cameras? I had read that before setting mine up but I updated my firmware on all mine and it still worked fine. But since I do not have your exact model number of cameras I am afraid I can not test it for you. I would follow that link up above and then ask question over there at github as they are alway very helpful with trying to resolve the issues.
I imagine it also applies to other TAPO devices, because I don’t even access the sockets anymore.
How annoying, I just buy another outdoor cam because I was happy with these cams
I still have my 6 Tapo Cams in this Integration, and as i wasn’t “affected” and JurajNyiri advised me to cut internet access, i did so, and hoping for a positive “Solution” from the Tapo Devs/Company
My Other Tapo Devices, such as plugs, strips, motion and temp-sensors, i have Integrated in " Tapo Controller Integration" , They are still having “Internet” access
( And i actually “allowed” firmware updates on 2 of my plugs , a week or so ago, so most of these devices is on latest firmware )
However i have an habit of disable auto-updates, where ever i can, in specific on i.e my Mobile Devices, And also in HA i disabled “firmware” updates entities
( don’t like the “experience/notification” " Hi !, We just updated your Device, have a look here(and see if it still work !) "
These " News " i like to be " prepared " for… like on a rainy, or othervice shitty day
As Mention all my Tapo Cams still work, in this Integration ( C200 and C310 ) On various firmware-versions, and recordings etc works
As internet-access is disable in my Router, for these, they are obvious not available in my Phone, when im not on my WIFI
As mention,i don’t allow auto-updates of Apps in my Phone, Maybe this could be the reason why you can’t access your “Other” Tapo Devices in HA
It’s somehow “interesting” how lots of People complains and make lots of noise , about i.e Open-Source Releases ( which are easily readable/accessible )
And then on the other hand let i.e Google(And other Brand-Apps) and Microsoft pump in what ever, when ever, on their various Android/Windows Devices ( Not to mention Brand-specific IOT-Devices )
Yes if you are in immediate need of a outdoor online Cam, this is a simple/cheap solution, but don’t despair, hopefully a “solution” is coming for/from Tapo, othervice you could subscribe to NB, or get another “external” access solution ( While keeping your Tapo-Cams Local.Only )
PS: if it’s “only” for viewing the cam, you could try rstp in Generic-Camera-Integration, or even Frigate-Integration, if you have specific needs
How did you actually cut internet access?
Clicked a Button in my Router
Thou actually the AsusRouter integration also provide this Option as a “Switch” in HA
Either ways worked ( Behind Curtain im not sure what the Router does, as it’s not “shown as a firewall rule” )
Has anyone been able to actually get Tapo cameras to work in Automations in HA? I have set up a few and if I run them manually the automation works like it is supposed to, but when the Tapo camera alarm itself is automatically triggered the Automation does not run, so is obvious the Tapo camera entity is not sending anything to HA.
Ah okay. I have a Sky Q router so might not be quite so straightforward here. I’ll have a look at the router’s admin settings and see if there is anything obvious.
Thanks
Siren specifically is not 2 way sync on all the cameras, only some. It is currently unknown how to get status for alarm on all the cameras.
There is a PR in works - Add #558, #505: Feature/ Hub Siren and C420 cameras fixes by marcosngomezi · Pull Request #559 · JurajNyiri/HomeAssistant-Tapo-Control · GitHub which might help some cameras.
You can maybe set up a firewall-rule, in your Router, if there aint a feature to direct block a specific IP
I’ve created a firewall rule to block all outbound services from the IP address of a single camera.
My router seems to have accepted that, but I can still see the camera feed in the Tapo app. Is the Tapo app showing my local connection because I’m home and connected to the same network, or should I not see the camera at all in the Tapo app if internet connection is blocked?
Is there any way to confirm the camera has no access to the internet?
