Hi, I’m reading this forum since a moment now but it’s my first message.
But let’s go to my question.
Is it possible to create something (a device would seem appropriate in my opinion) that would federate in one object, entities (standard and custom) from various origins and associate to it some specific actions.
To be more precise, I would make as a first experience a PC object from which I would centralize:
infos from “HASS Agent” - Memory Usage etc
actions from HASS Agent" Put to Sleep/shut down
a service to do Wake on Lan,
an action to turn on/off screens via connected plug
Integrate power usage from connected plugs
and other features like that.
I’m looking for insights so if you can help it would be great.
I seem to remember there is a HACS integration that sort of does this loosely. But, outside of an integration there is no way for you to create your own devices with whatever entities. Besides, what you want to do has a disadvantage of the fact you are looking to do something with the DEVICE rather than ENTITIES and building automations and scripts around device ID’s is fraught with issues in the long term.
But it is not entirely without risk and it does not give much of an advantage. If you want to group information and controls, I’d rater look into creating nice dashboards.
Agreed. You could do groups or switch templates or all sorts of stuff to do cross-entity automations that would likely be impossible here. Even if you use the new tagging and categories you can really do a lot more.
