We are looking to get a larger Daikin Cora (Australia) model with either 7.1kW (FTXV71W) or 8.5kW (FTXV8W) which apparently comes with new BRP08C44 wifi module options & trying to figure out if it’s going to work with HA (Local Polling of course).
We already have 2 x older 2.5kW Cora models with BRP072A42 which work great with HA - however the installer is saying the more powerful units (7kW+) we need for our large open plan space don’t work with the current BRP072C42 module (and the BRP072A42 is discontinued/out of stock & probably won’t work with these either). There’s also the Daikin Alira X (which is a lot more expensive) however I’ve not been able to track down what the (apparently) embedded Wifi module is & suspect that’s one of the newer cloud only ones.
Does anyone know if the BRP08C44 is supported (without cloud or any complex custom mods of course)? If not - are there any other good Reverse Cycle/Split System recommendations for Australian market which can offer >7kW options & Local Polling (future proof) HA Integration Support?
Daikin is discussed a lot on this site so do a search. If that is the integrated wifi device, then it only supports Daikin’s cloud. There is no local polling.
There is a third party integration on HACS which can poll their cloud in the same way as their app, which works very well. There is a long thread on it here.
Hi - this is definitely an seperate/plug-in Wifi module - it’s the Daikin Cora model (the Alira X has the integrated one however). The regular wifi modules that most others have (ie. BRP072x4x) only support up to 4.5kW systems so this different one is needed instead. I suspect because it’s the ‘C’ model of the wifi module answer is probably no to this - but I’ve never seen any of these series of modules mentioned in any of the Daikin integrations I’m not sure.
Thanks. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get that information from the installer (which of the many Daikin client app is being used) - so was hoping someone here had first hand knowledge of the specs/integration for this specific Wifi module version.
If it’s the cloud only one (which it sounds to be the most likely scenario) then definitely don’t want to proceed with it - I simply don’t trust any company will continue to support cloud models for entire lifetime of the unit without eventually going bankrupt/making it obselete etc. I have an entire cupboard full of IoT gear right now where company either went offline, decided it was no longer their focus and/or forced IFTTT integrations. I’m never going down that path again…
For time being, I’ve instead asked installer to see if they can source a Mitsubishi (7/8kW) unit which has EchonetLite support (have tracked down exact unit + wifi module specs for them) - which is all 100% local API with an optional cloud layer on top (but not required). Hopefully that will provide a way forward & will stay away from Daikins until they stop forcing cloud only integrations.
