I have a DALI 2.0 lighting system at my place which I would love to be able to control using HA. Currently I am able to control it by using it via KNX and using the KNX integration. But I think it is much easier and less cumbersome if DALI could be integrated into HA directly. Is this possible? I can see mention of a dali2mqtt. Does it imply that I can merely install dali2mqtt on some compatible hardware and then be able to control lights and read status directly from HA? If yes, can anyone guide the exact steps to go about it please. I could not figure out the instructions here which indicate the need for a virtual environment.
Easiest solution is using a device like Atios SmartCore. It is a full-fledged device that can control a full house (lighting, blinds, climate, doors) with its integrated relays and binary inputs, but it also has a DALI Bus connection. Up to 64 addresses and 16 groups for DALI control gear, as well as another 64 DALI-2 sensors can be integrated into Home Assistant via Apple HomeKit or Matter. There is even a DALI power supply in the device, that can be independently de/activated. The configuration is simple via the in-built and local web interface of the device.
