Dashboard images not loading on app, loads fine on browser

I’m creating my first dashboard using the Picture Elements card with my house floorplan to adjust lights by room. The image is hosted in the local ‘www’ folder and loads fine on my computer. On the app, however, the image does not load. I’ve tried on 3 different devices (iOS and Android) and observe the same behavior. The devices load the image if HA is opened in a web browser instead of the app. I tried clearing the app cache, which did not solve the issue. I also tried using both png and jpg files.

Solution: I was using an “http” prefix, which worked fine in the browser. Changing to “https” allowed the app to load properly.

I have had some problems with the app. If the tablet has an update waiting it will occasionally lock up. If I reboot and update whatever is available then HA comes back perfectly. Pain but it works.

When you say update, do you mean HA app updates or something else?

Any updates to the tablet.

Understood. I’ve confirmed that all devices are updated. The same behavior is occurring on an iPhone, Pixel 3, and Fire Tablet.

I took your picture and created a new view on Lovelace. I moved your picture to /config/www directory which in my case was already corrected. I renamed the pic home.png. I created a picture card on the new view - test. Here is how I created it.

It looks like this on my computer

I went to my tablet (android), I reloaded HA app because the view was not there. After reloading the view showed as did the picture.

Is your view limiting persons who can view it?

My tablet and my HA server are on different subdomains so that part works. Are your tablets on a vpn?

What do you mean by “reloaded HA app”? Just open and close?

I can see the dashboard, just not the image, so I don’t think it’s a permissions issue. Also, the file is in the www folder which is not password protected. As mentioned, I can open it on my phone’s browser and it loads phone, just not in the app.

I appreciate your continued troubleshooting support.

I shut it down and reopened it.

My file was also in the www directory. That is /local
