This is driving me a bit wild so hoping there’s an easy solution.
Picked up HA green the other day and have created my first dashboard on laptop. Looks great, really enjoying it.
I have a fire hd I’m using as the separate dashboard screen, but every time I log in on the tablet or mobile (both apps and web), I get greeted with a completely different theme and the side bar is not up to date… I have to manually change the theme as well as move/delete side bar pieces… surely this can’t be normal.
Anyone have any advice for me please on how these can sync across the board, everything I’ve seen online just says “it should”
Dashboards are not synced to a device: you open them from the server but might be cached in your browser.
From your profile (in the side bar, bottom icon) you can assign a dashboard to that user.
Be aware: that setting is saved for each device, even if you use the same user.
Thanks Nick… is there anyway to make it stick? Everytime I log in on my phone, its reverted back. I make the changes to how I want it to be (on the phone/tablet) directly, then next time I need to log in again its reverted back once more.
I have no idea why it was signing me out of the app. It seems like over night both on tablet and app I’ve not had to sign back in, and for now it has stuck. It had always stuck to be honest, it was only an issue when I have to sign in again and everything was reverted back.
Where I was getting confused is why it wasn’t saving the changes - eg. I sign in, correct everything, restructure the side bar and assign the theme… then I sign in again and everything has reset.
I have turned off auto close as you suggested now which may have been the issue. I’m assuming if I go outside of wifi this disconnects with the server and following this after 5 minutes logs me out? That would makee more sense if the case.
Still I don’t really understand what you were doing/what was happening that made it such that you ‘had to correct everything’.
If you have mobile access in your subscription AND your HA is configured to be accessible from the internet, the mobile app will switch seamlessly between home (WiFi) and outside.
If your devices lose connection with HA, they try to restore it and will if you’re back on your home network.
I dont understand what was happening either. For example, if I log in now on a new device that hasn’t logged in before, the side bar and theme isn’t as it is (resorts back to one I made in the first few hours before completely changing everything). Maybe this is normal, I’m not sure.
I don’t have a subscription at this point, or port forwarding set up to use out of home. This is something I will look into in the near future, but right now I’m just trying to get a dashboard created, some bits set up and decide on what I want to show. I’m moving home in a couple of months, at which point I will be adding quite extensively to my smart home collection, which is why I am moving to the HA world right now
I have the impression you are mixing things up:
The dashboard resides on your server, so no matter where you open it, being an already known device to HA or new, it will be the same.
Settings regarding sidebar, theme, … are stored on the device.
This was also my understanding… which is why I was so confused and what I’m attempting to understand what the issue is here, when every time I signed in it loads up a dashboard I created a couple of days ago, and not my current one.
