Dashboard section view move icon

Running Core 2024.11.3 and created a new dashboard using sections and I do not get the ‘move’ icon as shown in videos but instead get a ‘grid’ icon. Checking the web but do not see any suggestions on how to resolve. Please see screenshot for a picture of the ‘grid’ icon I am seeing. Is this a setting that I cannot seem to find?

Hi Bob, which video did you watch?

That screenshot you posted is the way it looks now with v2024.11 and that ‘grid’ icon can be used to drag that section to another spot.

Hi Nick,

The videos I saw were from March / April when it was still experimental, and the icon was a ‘plus’ sign. I could not find a reference to the ‘grid’ icon for the move icon in any of the videos.
Given that the ‘grid’ icon is correct I am now suspecting the app. I have been using the HA app from the Microsoft Store on a win 11 pc. to a HA green. I also have a shortcut on the desktop using Edge browser. Interesting, the Edge Browser ‘connection’ does work now that I know the ‘grid’ is the correct icon.
I suspect the Microsoft app may have a bug. The Edge browser is working great! I went to settings > Apps > installed Apps > HA and performed a repair but it did not help.

Thanks for the response and I will now use the Edge browser connection.

Did you just recently updated your HA?

I am relatively new to HA (late October). I started with the Microsoft APP but added a browser shortcut on the win 11 pc desktop but mainly use the app.
Sorry but I have not been closely watching the updates, but I suspect the 2024.11.3 was installed shortly after it was available which I think was early November (11.3?).
I ran repair on the Microsoft app and it caused setup to hang and the pc acted strange and would not reset/reboot.

I do remember seeing that sections were experimental when I first started, so I used masonry for my dashboard but did a redesign about 1-2 weeks ago and noticed sections was not experimental anymore but instead the default so I used sections but could never get the ‘move’ to work.
Today I dug a little deeper and decided to ask about the grid icon since I did not see a reference on the web.
The short answer would be no I do not remember when I updated core.
Thank you for the response and assistance.

Well, I was asking this because sometimes your browser is using old data from it’s cache.
Anyhow, you should see this ‘grid’ symbol IF rendered correctly.
There might be differences between different browser engines or programs you use.

When looking on the web for assistance, I often see the suggestion to clear the cache on the browser.

I did not use a browser except for once or twice when I built the shortcut.

I used the app from the Microsoft app store which I downloaded and installed on a win 11 pc. I suspect it has a bug in relation to sections and the move functionality.

Here is a screen capture of the app in win settings:

I’m quite sure that the app is just a program which uses a browser engine underneath to render a webpage.

You are probably correct in that it is based on a browser as it does have a similar look and feel but it does ‘adjust’ the screen differently, and the sidebar fits and does not require scrolling to see ‘settings’. After using the browser, I noticed that the mouse pointer does not change from an arrow to a finger when hovering over the grid/move icon. Sometimes I will get a small piece of paper with a bent corner (top right) along with a slash in the center which I believe is indicating the function is not allowed. I suspect the app has a bug in that it is not allowing the hover over / drag & drop function to work.

I sent an email to Serhii Seletskyi (Intellias) who is listed as the publisher on the app in the microsoft app store and he has responded that he will fix with the next app update. I gave the details as explained here and a link to this post.

Thanks again.
