I recently entered the world of zwave. Have been doing some reading on the subject and then inserted the Aeotec zwave stick and started rocking.
The first (and so far only) problem is that I have some mystery dead node from the aeotec stick. I had no sensors/devices connected so for sure it came from the stick.
Unknown Node 2 Dead (Probe)
Unknown Node 2 Switch
I was not able to find similiar cases, any tips how to try solve what that is? Or should I do anything to it but hide from the frontend?
Added devices are working perfectly. Have two door sensors, motion detector and one fire alarm device.
You can remote failed nodes. The instructions there also include how to make the underlying library (OpenZWave) think the device has failed, even if it isn’t yet marked that way.
So you are saying it should just be removed because rest of system seem to work OK?
Should the zwave stick have any other features other than just relay the messages back and forth (in addition to whatever zwave stuff it does)? And the dead node (from the stick) is maybe just some SW glitch?
Your stick was used before you got it (maybe just in testing, who knows), and wasn’t reset. You now have a mystery device that you’ve never owned. Yes, you should remove it
