Using Debian 10 and following a strict set of guidelines available HERE will give you a supported installation of Home Assistant Supervised. If you choose at anytime to install additional software to the Debian operating system, your installation will become officially unsupported. Community support via the forums is always available however.

Installing Home Assistant Supervised using Debian 12

Are all these conditions true

Additional supported conditions

This installation method can easily be broken if one manages the operating system incorrectly. Therefore, the following additional conditions apply:

  • The operating system is dedicated to running Home Assistant Supervised.
  • All system dependencies are installed according to the manual.
  • No additional software, outside of the Home Assistant ecosystem, is installed.
  • Docker needs to be correctly configured to use overlayfs2 storage and journald as the logging driver.
  • NetworkManager is installed and enabled in systemd.
  1. Yes. It works ok. But after last update it have the error.
  2. Yes. I installed it use the manual.
  3. Yes.

cat /etc/docker/daemon.json
{
“storage-driver”: “overlay2”
},
{
“log-driver”: “journald”
}

  1. yes

I installed Debian 10 64Bit version of Raspbain and HA not showing this to me anymore :slight_smile:

https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspios_arm64/images/raspios_arm64-2020-05-28/2020-05-27-raspios-buster-arm64.zip

if all the prereqs are true i would suggest logging a github issue to find out why its says unsupported
although it only a warning, doesnt really stop you using HA

Supported Operating System, System dependencies and versions

Docker CE (Community Edition) is the only supported containerization method for Home Assistant Supervised. We only support FHS 3.0 on the host file system.

  • Docker CE >= 19.03
  • Systemd >= 239
  • NetworkManager >= 1.18.0
  • Avahi >= 0.7
  • AppArmor == 2.13.x (built into the kernel)
  • Debian Linux Debian 10 aka Buster (no derivatives)

Only the above-listed version of Debian Linux is supported for running this installation method. When a new major version of Debian is released, the previous major version is dropped, with a deprecation time of 4 months. An exception to this rule occurs if the new version does not meet the requirements of the Supervisor.

Time to log a github issue then

just noticed your network manager is lower version
Version: 1.14.6-2+deb10u1

  • NetworkManager >= 1.18.0

Yes, but it is default into debian 10.

Well the requirements need that, so it probably why. i would suggest confirming with them on github

Have you tried upgrading it to confirm?

I have this in /etc/docker/daemon.json :

{
  "log-driver": "journald",
  "storage-driver": "overlay2"
}

I had the same “unsupported” message on a current Debian 10 supervised install.
Rerun the install script on top of the existing HA install from

fixed the problem.

Bingo! Big THX!
After the command i rebooted the PC.

hi HBK … I have the same message too … do I need to reinstall HA or Debian?

No reinstall needed, just run as root (according to the linkabove) and reboot after:
curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/home-assistant/supervised-installer/master/installer.sh | bash -s

it worked but with your command not the one in the link
