I recently came across these smart plugs in the UK. They are zigbee and so far are working great.
They come in brushed steel, chrome, brass, black or traditional white.
They come in singles and doubles.
I’ve ordered from Amazon and directly too with no issues.

Pretty certain these are Scolmore’s ClickSmart range. I’ve seen the plain white ones in a electrical suppliers catalogue before now, but it seems they’re expanding the range. Different sockets styles even a FCU. Impressive looking, range although I’ve never used them

These do look good and the price is reasonable but unfortunately they don’t do power monitoring. That’s really a must for automations.
Does the switch work independently of HA ie if HA was unavailable can it still be switched off and on by the switch itself?
Yes they do, I’ve a bunch of these and there only major flaw is that you can’t turn off the back lights the come on when a switch is on.
Not necessarily a huge problem itself but even on the low setting they are too bright to put in any of the bedroom sockets as they would be annoying to try and sleep with
