Deconz and xiaomi cube

hi.
its been asked, but not yet answered as i would like.
i would like to use the xiaomi cube via deconz to control various things.
so if i double tap on side 1 and rotate - this is volume
if i double tap on side 2 and then rotate - this is brightness
if i double tap on side 3 and then rotate - this is something else

basically this requires that i “rememeber” the double tap in some variable so when the rotate occurs… i know which entity to then or which action to take… brightness or volume.

i know how to get the events etc. but how or is there an easy way to store the events in variables
i would rather not use MQTT…

Could you use an input select? Change the value to volume, brightness etc depending on the state of the cube and then base your rotation automation on the value of the input select
