Default media receiver help

Hi guys,

When I connected to the home assistant for the first time, hassio autodiscovered 3 of my devices. Google home. Chromecast audio and mibox3. I added them. Now in my over view folder I have 4 media device receivers that I’m not sure how to control.

It shows the devices as being offline even thought they are actually on. When I press the power button on my mibox, for example, The media on mibox turns off and I get a black screen with a chromecast symbol in the center of the screen. Also a volume bar appears in the media receiver panel in hassio.

How do I populate these with media?

And where is the configuration for these panels? I’ve looked in configure.yaml but can’t see anything.

At the moment I’m using my broadlink rm mini to change the volume on the mibox but it doesn’t show the state. Is there a way to use the volume bar in the media receiver panel to show the state( volume level) of mibox? Because when I’m watching media on the mibox the panel shows it as being off and volume bar doesn’t show.

Hope someone can join me in he right direction.

There is no such file in home assistant.

You need to use one of the media player services to load with media (or some other control system outside home assistant).

See Media player - Home Assistant

OK thanks for that. I managed to get my spotify account working on them.

What about the volume state? Is It possible to access the volume level while the media player (mibox) is showing as off even though the mibox is on?

If the media player panel is showing as off when it is on there is something wrong.

What is a mibox3 anyway?

It is a xiaomi mibox. Its an android tv box with a built in chromecast.

The media devices are all on, but in the pannel it shows as off. if I click on the power button in the media player box the whatever I’m watching on TV turns off to a black screen with a chromecast symbol in the center of the screen.

Doesn’t sound like your media player is fully supported.

I don’t see this device in the components list, although I may have missed it.

As it seems to be an Android/AndroidTV [1] device, there is no general component to cover all the apps on the device. There are some threads on here about integrating Android and/or AndroidTV devices with HA, although it is pretty hacky.

Perhaps from what you have said this device has some Chromecast ability? Perhaps that is what you are seeing. Hard to say.

[1] Android and AndroidTV are not the same.

I know this is an old post but I am wondering how you managed to get Spotify to work on your Google Speakers? I am having great difficulty doing this. (p.s. I am new to this)
