Delete an Entity (via the UI) without Entity ID

There is no way to currently delete an entity that was created from a template binary sensor where the Entity ID no longer exists. Lots of posts about editing YAML or the database, but we need to be UI first. I have attached images of the issue, and hope to get support for a UI based solution.

Background:

  • Created the Helper (Template Binary Helper)
  • Saved the Helper
  • Accidently deleted the Entity ID

I did find a work around! :slight_smile:

  1. Go to Settings > Devices & services > Entities (Subtab)
  2. Set the Filter to show all entities (no just enabled entities), the entity I was trying to delete was “Disabled”
  3. Search for the problematic Entity
  4. Click on the problematic Entity
  5. Select DELETE in the dialog box.

I tried to enable the Entity, but that kept failing.

well, u’d better kinda figure it out → as i’d assume that would be a bug to fix → there would be no need to delete an entity without an id, if there would be no way for entity to become id-less…
