Desktop layout for Lovelace cards - column groupings possible?

I’m a brand new HA user, so please be gentle and assume I know nothing already.

When logging into HA from my desktop computer, my dashboard displays as 3 columns but the cards are not organized column-wise. They seem to populate row-wise, so for instance, moving the second card in the first column (which is the fourth card in the raw code) “up” will make it the first card in the third column (which is the third card in the raw code).

Is there any concept of configurable columns for desktop view, so that I could declare particular cards as belonging to a particular column on wide screens without mucking up the order they display in the single-column mobile app view? e.g. a column for all my cards that control lights in a particular room, a column for all my cards that report data from services, etc. Or should I just use multiple views for this purpose, with a view for lights, a view for service data, etc? I am comfortable editing the raw configuration.

I use a series of vertical stack cards to “assign” cards to specific columns, but the grid card may also work for you: Grid Card - Home Assistant. vertical-stack is nice in that you can either have them sit side-by-side on a large screen, or be displayed sequentially in a column on a smaller screen like a phone.

Thank you, vertical-stack looks perfect for my needs!
