Deta Grid Connect "series 2"

Hi

Years ago I bought some Deta Grid Connect wall switches from Bunnings, and have flashed these with Tasmota (serial).

I see from this page: https://devices.esphome.io/devices/DETA-Grid-Connect-Smart-Switch that…

Deta/Bunnings now ship the Single, Double and Triple (tbc on Quad) with WB3S chips, which are not compatible with ESPHome/Tuya/Tasmota/etc. Packaging states a “Series 2” model number, eg “6911HA - Series 2”.

I looked at a few local Bunnings and I noticed all triple switches and all fan speed controllers (with 3 buttons) said “series 2”. None of the quads did, despite the packaging looking the same. Also the double gangs didn’t say series 2, but these seems to be a new product in that they say they are two way compatible on the packaging, which wasn’t on the old two gang packaging.

Does anyone know if ALL products which use the new chip say “series 2” and if anything that doesn’t say that will be able to be flashed with Tasmota?

Or are they only printing series 2 on items which are a direct upgrade of a previous product, rather than a “different” product altogether?

Thanks

Not sure about your question but every sparky I’ve spoken to says to stay away from Deta products (dumb and smart). They are absolute junk.

I tried to do an OTA flash of one of the DETA series 2 lights,
but got a “cannot because all Tuya firmware was updated not to allow this” message.
I read on some other pages that this can still be done via serial, but have not tried it.
I have removed all mine and installed shelly devices that I can control locally.
But I have a box of 20 DETA lights and switches in the garage now, and I would really like to get these device out of the cloud.

I have found these for reference

I will try the seral route some day, but I’m not confident when it comes to soldering, etc. I would much rather do OTA updates.

Have you found some other way?

I don’t know about absolute junk. the lights worked well. But the App is junk.
It’s standard cheap Tuya devices. They work. But nothing special.
Definitely not worth the price you pay DETA for.
We don’t have much choice these days. not many companies make their own.
