Detect network presence.. simple

Hello,
I am trying to find or create something that could simply detect when a device is connected to WiFi. Seems very simple… maybe by IP or MAC address? I do have a UniFi network and I used to run the UniFi Network integration but found that it was just too much “stuff” coming in. I just want to track 1-3 devices… is it connected, yes/no… that’s it.

Anyone know of something or some way this could be accomplished?

I think this video could be really helpful, especially since it covers Unifi as well. It might give you insights or tips that align with your setup and needs.
